New Travel Section Underway!

Picture I took of a sunrise while flying in an airplane

Ever since I was little, I have always had a love of travel.  I've never wanted to stay in one place and have always wanted to see the world.  This is still true today.

I found a way to leave my cold, dreary home in Rochester, NY by the time I was 16 years old.  I started to do a program where I could finish my senior year of high school/college freshman year together in Providence, RI.  So off I went...only to come home 3 months later.  But that didn't stop me.  I then went to college when I was supposed to in North Carolina.

I had a huge fear of flying, but I loved to travel.  For the first 2-3 years of college in North Carolina, I would ride the Greyhound bus home to Rochester, NY for school breaks.  That would be 24 hours...on the bus....each way.  Let me just say that I wouldn't recommend it.  I came across quite a few interesting characters on those buses...and some downright creepy ones too.  After I toughed it out for a few years, I knew I had to overcome my fear of flying.  I just sucked it up and booked a flight for one of my trips home....and prayed.  During takeoff....while flying....and during landing.  I often watched the flight attendants on the plane.  I figured if they looked calm, everything must be all right and I don't need to worry.  Little did I know that I would one day become one of them.

A few years while I was living in Las Vegas (I told you, I don't stay put), I saw an ad looking for international flight attendants.  What?!!  Free international travel all of the time???  My wanderlust is so strong, I thought this is the best way to get over the fear!  Learn about flying, what to do in case anything happens (and the chances of anything happening) and getting to travel for free!  Yippeee!!  I applied and got accepted for the job!  It was with an all business class airline.  It was everything I imagined it to be and more.  Still my favorite job.  This airline only flew to London. So I would go on trips from Vegas/LA to London, spend a few days in London and come back home.  This only lasted a few months until the company went under.  Sad sad day.

Later, I decided to still work with the airlines and became a Reservations agent with a large well known airline.  I stayed there for a number of years, until I got sick of people yelling at me because their flights were cancelled due to weather or whatever other reason was not in my control.  A big perk from this job that I miss is the free travel!

Traveling is in my blood, and I know a lot about it.  I love planning trips...even if I don't end up taking them!  The planning stages builds up the anticipation and can last for weeks or months, while the trip itself...well, is over in the blink of an eye.  I also love trying to find the best deal so that I can travel even more!

So I thought why not add a travel section to the blog with reviews from trips that I've taken (I'm going on a cruise in August!!), how to find the best deals, inside information from the travel industry, etc!  So be on the lookout for new travel posts under my Life section (now titled Life/Travel).
