Stitch Fix Review- February 2016
So this is what happens when you forget to add a note for your stylist....you still get an awesome fix!
I completely forgot to add a note for my wonderful stylist this month...as in nothing at all, blank, zip, nada... I usually try to put something that I think might be helpful for her, because surely picking out clothes all willy nilly for someone you don't really know has got to be difficult and nothing short of a miracle should the items actually fit annnnd be cute.
Turns out, in order to be employed as a stylist by Stitch Fix, you need to have magical powers- because this was an excellent fix and you guys....she sent SHOES! and THEY FIT! I'm sure that's amazing in and of itself for most people, but what you don't know is that my feet are HUGE and WIDE and I have the most trouble finding shoes that fit and are cute....and comfortable.
The only dilemma? Trying to decide what to purchase to stick to a budget!
Loveappella Donahue Contrast Trim Knit Top $48
Dear John Avril Skinny Jean $88
This shirt is made with a nice thick material and you can tell it's good quality. You can even turn the shirt inside out and wear it that way. That side will only polka dots though, it wouldn't have the contrast trim. While I thought the shirt was cute, it is exactly like this cardigan I got a few months back. I decided I didn't need both since they were so similar.
The jeans were tougher to decide on. When I pulled them out of the box I was surprised by how bright they were. Definitely not something I would have chosen myself, but that's one of the reasons I'm getting fixes to begin with! The jeans fit perfectly and my stylist suggested I pair them with this shirt. I liked how the pink and navy went together. If you left me to my own devices, the pants would have always been paired with a solid black shirt, lol. While I loved these pants, I figured I might not get as much use out of them because of my lack of styling skills. I definitely would have bought these pants if I wanted everything else in the fix, that way I could justify it with the 25% off discount, but alas.....
Status: Both Returned
Dahlya Poppa Open Cardigan $58
When I pulled this cardigan out of the box, I was in love. I thought this would be the definite keeper piece. First of all, I'm a sucker for cardigans. Second, I loved that the sleeves were a different color than the rest of it. And third, I loved that it was open, no buttons, and draped down....and could go with any color, lol. When I put it on....it just didn't lay right. Maybe it was a bit big? It also has pockets for those of you who love them. It was comfortable and really cute, and again, with the discount I probably would have gotten it, but....
Yosi Samra- Samara Snake Print Flats $75
One word: SHOES! I've heard Stitch Fix started sending out shoes a few months ago, but this is my first time receiving a pair. When I saw I was getting some, my first thought was one of excitement, then came the realization that they probably wouldn't fit my Shrek feet (or Flinstone feet as my mom used to call them, lol). But look at that picture...they fit! They are so so comfortable. I had been wanting to buy a pair of flats recently and am glad these found their way to me. The best part about them?? They fold up! Like literally, if you take your foot out of them, they instantly fold up. They come with a cute little pouch that you can keep them in. My stylist mentioned they're great for days that you're wearing heels, but then want to switch to flats (because eventually, ow). They are small enough to keep in your purse for an instant shoe change.
*Sorry the shoes are doing a camouflage thing...the grass here isn't very green right now so instead of dead grass, my picture-taker-husband suggested fall leaves (fall leaves? in January? yes, we have weird weather in SC, lol.)
Skies are Blue Boronia Henley Blouse $58
This is a nice statement blouse. For me, the colors of pink and blue were really bright. People who can pull that off are awesome. I love bright colors, but usually use them in accessories. Or as pants and make everything else neutral. Plus, I just don't really have occasions to wear "blouses". While a great piece for some, was an easy no for me.
Even though I only kept one item, I would have loved to keep more if my bank account could handle it :) My stylist did a great job and I can't wait to find what what's in next month's box!
